M.A.N.T.E.L. Publishing Modle
Manuscript
Submitting a manuscript is the first step on your pathway to publishing. Once we receive a manuscript, it automatically enters our Two-Level submission process. Some will be ready for the Publishing Pathway, others will be placed on the Coaching Pathway.
Technicalities
Once a manuscript is accepted, the editorials, revisions, and rewrites are done. We handle the publishing services for our authors. During this time, we secure an ISBN, file the necessary paperwork, set up the necessary distribution accounts, etc. All the parts that most writers don’t have the time, inclination, or desire to take of.
Access
This is where the process and working with a hybrid publishers differs from working as an author or with a traditional publishers the most. Authors have access throughout the entire design and formatting phase of the custom book cover, and interior formatting. Your input is an integral part of the process used to bring your vision for your book to life.
Evaluation
Our evaluation criteria is tied to our seasonal lists and the standards we’ve adopted for acceptable material for SOMO Publishing House. We must be able to envision a book doing well in the market place as well as meshing well with our brand, mission, and vision.
Notification
Authors will be notified if their manuscript is accepted for publication within six to eight weeks after sending the full manuscript in to Southern Momentum Publishing House. If a manuscript is not accepted, authors may not hear from us.
Literary Magic
Your book baby is born! Not only do we work hard to get it as many online retailers in both digital and print form, we work just as hard to get your book into brick and mortar indie and commercial book stores. We believe in your writing, or we wouldn’t have published your story.
Preparing & Formatting Your Manuscript for Submission
Two Step Submission Process
STEP ONE
All Manuscripts enter at Step One. This is where we accept, read through, evaluate, assess, and determine if the manuscript aligns with our mission and vision, as well as if it’s a good fit for what we’re looking for. From this level, manuscripts will be placed on one of two Pathways. Publishing or Coaching/Editorial. Some manuscripts may not be for us, those won’t go any further than Step One.
Publishing Pathway
Submissions on this pathway are deemed ready for publication with possible editorial work requirements.
Book Coach Pathway
Submissions on this pathway require work with a book coach before publication can be considered.
STEP TWO
All manuscripts that make it to this Step were either deemed publication ready upon submission or had been placed on the Maybe pile and the authors took our recommendations to heart, worked with one of our Preferred Partners and got their manuscript publication ready. However your manuscript gets to Step Two, it means it is ready for publication.
YES
These submission are deemed ready for publication by our team and writers are notified about the level of *editorial work necessary at the time.
On Hold
These submissions are not ready for the publication but we are still interested in publishing them at a later date or in a different season.
*Authors may elect to use one of our Preferred Partners and avoid paying the submission fee should they choose to resubmit
This workbook is for women ready to look directly at what happened between them and their mothers — not to diagnose it, and not to assign blame, but to understand the shape a wound takes so it stops quietly shaping everything else.
Five wounds are covered here. They're common enough to have names in the research literature, which doesn't make any one woman's version of them generic. The reading in each section comes from open-access, peer-reviewed research — named and linked so you can go further if you want to. The writing is auto-fiction: you'll build a character who carries a version of what you carry, and write her scene from the outside, at a slight distance, which is often where the truest things get said.
