The Southern Momentum Creative Writing Essential Experience

We begin with a minimum two-hour AWA-certified facilitated session. Each workshop includes at least two prompt-driven writing and feedback sessions, one somatic practice, and is led by a supportive expert facilitator grounded in the AWA Essential Practices

AWA’s core belief is simple: every person is a writer, every writer deserves a safe environment in which to experiment, learn, and develop craft.” Pat Schneider (Amherstwriters.org)

Two Hour Minimum Workshop

Two hours offers writers the space and time to write with intention, share without fear, and leave with a meaningful, transformative writing practice.

Somatic Informed Practice

Writing is as much a wellness practice as it is creative. Writers often experience shifts in their somatic bodies, and offering this practice helps to recalibrate the nervous system.

Expert Facilitation

Workshops are written and facilitated by a master level curriculum writer with over twenty-five years experience working with writers at every level. She is also South Carolina’s only AWA-certified affiliate trained at Amherst Writers & Artist founded by Pat Schneider at Amherst College in Amherst, MA.

Two Writing | Affirming Feedback Sessions

We require a minimum of two writing and feedback sessions to allow each writer an opportunity to read and/or offer feedback. This standard also helps nervous writers ease into the workshop.
